For straightforward shipments with complete documentation, clearance at Mombasa Port typically takes 48–72 hours after vessel discharge. Air freight at JKIA can be cleared within 24 hours. Complex or regulated cargo takes longer.

How is import duty calculated?

Duty is computed on the Customs Value (CIF: Cost + Insurance + Freight). Import Duty (0–35%) plus Excise Duty (where applicable), VAT (16%), IDF Fee (2.5%) and RDL (2%) apply. HS classification determines the exact rate — we compute this at the quote stage.

Do I need to be present for clearance?
